125th birthday for the Statue of Liberty

The birthday of 125 years of the iconic Statue of Liberty was celebrated here acts as a greeting of weapons, fireworks and the naturalization ceremony of 125 immigrants organized to commemorate the day.

The iconic green lady, a gift from France to the United States, was dedicated on October 28, 1886 and designated as a National Monument in 1924. More than 1,000 people from both countries were present at the occasion on Liberty Island in New York harbor.

The iconic symbol of New York will be closed for one year from today, during which a USD 27.25 million renovation will be done to improve the ladder up at the Statue of Liberty crown and to add new safety equipment . However, Liberty Island, where the copper statue will remain open during the project and the views of Statue of Liberty remain largely unhindered during the year-long renovation.
