Brian Grazer replace Brett Ratner as a new producer Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that Brian Grazer (Cowboys & Aliens, The Da Vinci Code) will be the new producer of the Academy Awards, the latest development in a wild 48 hours saw Brett Ratner previous producer give amid a storm of controversy and Eddie Murphy subsequently removed from the holding of the fair this morning. Ironically, Grazer also produced Ratner and Murphy's latest film, Heist Torre. He joins veteran television producer Don Mischer, who stood in as producer Oscar after Ratner left. 

"It's very rewarding to be part of a show that honors excellence in the environment to which I devoted much of my career," Grazer said in a statement. "Don is a legend, and I am very happy to work with him." 
"Brian Grazer is a renowned filmmaker in the last 25 years has produced a diverse body of work and extraordinary," said Academy president Tom Sherak. "Without a doubt bring enormous talent, creativity and relationships of the Oscars." High Mischer, "I am delighted to welcome Brian Grazer as my partner and we will be collaborating to produce an exceptional show." 

Ratner resigned yesterday after coming under sharp criticism for its use of an anti-gay insult in a post-screening Q & A for Tower Heist and obscene in an interview Howard Stern Show. Murphy was removed from the show this morning, saying: "I totally understand and support the decision of each party with respect to a change of producers of the Academy Awards ceremony this year."
