Magnitude 1.1 Earthquake Rocks Southern California

The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting that an earthquake of around Magnitude 1.1 has hit near the Palm Springs Area in Southern California within the last hour (6:32 p.m. Pacific Time) on Saturday November 5, 2011.

A shallow, magnitude 3.2 earthquake was reported Saturday afternoon two miles from the Bay Area town of Piedmont, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter was three miles from Berkeley, Emeryville five miles and 11 miles from San Francisco City Hall. 

In the past 10 days, there have been two earthquakes of 3.0 and a greater focus in the vicinity.
